The five-story building is a mixture of glass and metallic exterior, with mainly a red-granite stone and metallic surfaced interior. More than 12,000 passengers pass through the bus terminal each day from the 10 inter-city bus companies that operate out of South Station. Located at 700 Atlantic Avenue, in the Chinatown/Leather District neighborhoods, the South Station bus terminal serves as the main gateway for inter-city buses in and out of Boston. These services include building-maintenance and repairs, construction supervision, tenant request services, management and administration of vendor contracts, preparation of annual operating plans and budgets, tenant relations, cash-flow management, facilities management and cost savings.
In February 2014, Avison Young began providing property management services for the bus terminal. “We are thrilled to be working with the MBTA and look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship not only with the MBTA, but also with the tenants and employees who keep the station running.” “The South Station bus terminal is an important Boston transportation center,” comments Prozinski. Boston – Avison Young has been selected by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to manage the 312,000-square-foot (sf) South Station bus terminal.
